FTM/N Top Surgery
FTM/N Top Surgery involves removal or reduction of breast tissue from the chest wall for transmasculine or non-binary individuals who were assigned female at birth (AFAB) who experience discomfort or dysphoria associated with the physical characteristics of their chest. These individuals generally wish to achieve a more masculine or gender-neutral appearance to their chest wall. The goal of surgery is to align outer physical characteristics with the internal sense of self.
FTM/N Top Surgery
FTM/N Top Surgery involves removal or reduction of breast tissue from the chest wall for transmasculine or non-binary individuals who were assigned female at birth (AFAB) who experience discomfort or dysphoria associated with the physical characteristics of their chest. These individuals generally wish to achieve a more masculine or gender-neutral appearance to their chest wall. The goal of surgery is to align outer physical characteristics with the internal sense of self.
MTF Top Surgery
MTF top surgery involves a breast augmentation with implants placed in the sub glandular (above the muscle) or sub muscular(below the muscle) plane. Smooth round implants are used (most commonly Mentor brand). Your consultation with Dr. Chandler will involve trying different sizes in the office setting to determine the volume that is best suited to your body and your preferences. Dr. Chandler will take precise measurements of your breast and chest dimensions in order to determine the appropriate implant type. Sometimes, a mastopexy (breast lift) or areola reduction may be recommended in addition to a breast augmentation depending on your anatomy. Mastopexy incisions may travel around the nipple, down, and/or underneath the breast depending on how much extra skin you have and how much your nipple needs to be lifted. These details will be discussed in detail at your consultation.

Body Contouring for Masculinization and Feminization
Body masculinization generally refers to smoothing out the lateral torso to create a more masculine appearance to the trunk. This is most commonly employed to flatten the “love handles” laterally, which tend to be associated with a feminine figure.
Nonbinary
We recognize that gender identity is a spectrum, and the term non-binary represents an umbrella term for gender identities that are neither male nor female. Any person who feels they do not identify 100% with the gender of female or male could be considered non-binary. Non-binary individuals may consider themselves to be more transmasculine leaning, or more feminine leaning, or they may feel like they fall exactly in the middle at neutral. They may feel strongly transmasculine leaning, or just a little. You can imagine that this represents a wide range of individuals and thus there are many different surgical approaches that are options for FTN individuals undergoing top surgery.
